State of Green Business in Las Vegas

Nevada is recognized as a very business-friendly state and Las Vegas plays a major role as the largest city both in terms of population and business revenues. The primary drivers of the city’s economy include tourism, gaming and conventions,Las Vegas Conference which in turn feed the retail and dining industries. The gaming industry is the backbone of the Las Vegas economy; however, it also leaves a significant ecological footprint. Casinos in particular use significant amounts of water and energy and produce large streams of both solid and hazardous waste. Conversely, it is not generally known to what degree Las Vegas Casinos are interested in or have already introduced green practices to reduce their impact on the environment.

EFC9 is identifying the environmental impact of Las Vegas casinos, assessing the state of green casino practices in Las Vegas, and evaluating potential opportunities for encouraging others to adopt a more sustainable approach to doing business.
